Julie Aamodt Jeppsen, born April 2, 1960, in Redwood City, California, the fourth of six children to Dave and Shirley Aamodt, passed away peacefully in the arms of her husband, Dennis Jeppsen, at their home on July 1, 2025, following a long, difficult illness. Julie resided in Brigham City, Utah. Julie's steadfast presence, paired with a sharp mind and a deep well of courage, is a tremendous loss for those who knew and loved her. Despite our sadness, Julie would have liked for us to consider her departure from this life as a simple change of address, complete with a huge family reunion, new joys, and new challenges.
Julie was raised in California, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Farmington, Utah. She graduated from Davis High School in 1978, where she enjoyed participating in solo and ensemble music competitions, musicals, and received superior ratings in state competitions. Additionally, she sang in several choirs. She attended college and earned numerous licenses and certificates in title and escrow work, Recreational High-Risk Business Insurance, and Property Acquisition. Throughout her life, she was known for her integrity, resilience, problem-solving, and spunky sense of humor that lifted those around her.
Julie's greatest achievement was raising her two sons as a single mother, guiding them through both disappointment and spectacular joy. She was a true Mama Bear, defending her children, constantly reminding them of their greatness and potential. If ever knocked down, she stood her ground and clawed her way back up. Through an extremely difficult illness, she tried her best every day and followed Dr.'s instructions with a positive outlook. Heaven must have really needed her.
In 2010, Julie was sealed for time and eternity on the opening day of the Brigham City Temple to her devoted husband, Dennis Jeppsen, with whom she shared 15 great years full of love and purpose. She felt completely safe with Dennis at her side. Together, they built a life full of laughter, adventure, and faith. A few weeks ago, JD (her son) asked Julie what time in her life she enjoyed the most. Without hesitation, she said, "These are the best days of my entire life."
Julie found peace and joy in many places: cuddling her canine companion LuLu, combing the Oregon coast at 4:00 A.M., crabbing and eating the bounty, fishing, camping, and exploring nature. She loved spending time with her parents, siblings, and extended family at holiday parties and cookouts. Julie loved taking extended trips to Las Vegas to spend time with Erik, Anna, Erland, and Elton. She loved the peaceful sweetness of holding and cuddling her "Lil' Bitty" (Elton) and the wonder and the imagination and awe of playing with her "Bubba" (Erland). Julie's favorite places to wander were Seattle, Oregon, Alaska, and Arizona. Whether quilting, crafting, cooking, crocheting, or trying new things, she embraced life fully. She also enjoyed a nap, quiet moments, and simply relishing the simplicity of family togetherness.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Julie served in various callings. As a Primary Chorister, she taught the children her famous impromptu CTR Cheer: "Lean to the left. Lean to the right. Stand up. Sit down. Choose the right." She loved serving wherever called.
Julie was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Aamodt, brother-in-law, Don Meriwhether, nephew, Andy Aamodt, and step-son, Josh Jeppsen.
Julie is survived by her loving, dedicated husband, Dennis, her two sons, Erik (Anna) Bjorndal, and JD (Brooklyn) Roylance, step-children, Cody, Caleb, Toshina, and Keenan, grandchildren, Erland Ames Darbonne Bjorndal (5), Elton Lynlie Darbonne Bjorndal (1), and grandson, Julius Alexander Roylance, expected in November 2025. She is also survived by her parents, Dave and Shirley Aamodt, siblings, Camille Aamodt Meriwhether, Bill Aamodt, Bob (Julie) Aamodt, and Dan Aamodt, as well as numerous fun-loving, dear nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends.
Julie's memory and constant smile will be treasured by all who knew her. She was a loving wife, dedicated mother, treasured Minmah, fun and fabulous sis to her siblings, delightful daughter, steadfast friend, reliable problem-solver, faithful believer, talented, articulate, and just a whole lot of fun! Enjoy this next chapter in your book, Julie Pie! We will see you again.
A funeral service is planned Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the LDS Chapel, 223 N. 200 W., Brigham City, Utah 84302. Friends may call at 9:30 A.M. - 10:45 A.M. The service will begin at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at another time.
