Julie M van der Hoop Ludvik (“Hoot”) passed away on August 19 at the age of 90. She was born in The Hague, Netherlands in January 1935.
The van der Hoop children all attended Washington Elementary, and Casey Jr. High School. Julie graduated from Boulder High School in 1953. She attended Colorado A&M College 1953-1955 in Fort Collins. She married Carl W. Ludvik of Walsenburg, CO in July 1956. Julie and her family lived in various countries in Latin America from 1960 to 1972, after which they settled in Florida. Julie returned to Colorado in 2013 to be closer to family and friends.
Julie had an independent and adventurous spirit, and she was delighted to return “home” to Colorado. She enjoyed reconnecting with old friends from BHS, and she spent many happy adventure-trip days with her brother exploring back roads in the mountains, as they had done with their mother as children.
Julie was predeceased by her parents, and her sister Francis M.I. van der Hoop Miller (Robert) of Pleasanton, California.
She is survived by daughters, Allison L. Ludvik and Caroline A. Ludvik-Kearney (Joseph), two grandsons Elliot D. Johnson and Liam C. Johnson of Shelburne Falls, MA, her brother David H. van der Hoop (Nancy) of Boulder CO, and numerous van der Hoop, Miller, and Ludvik family members in Boulder, Denver, and California.
