June Edith Kersten

June Edith Kersten, an Air Force military wife, mother and grandmother, and friend to anyone she met, passed away on the morning of June 22nd, 2025. She had just had her 91st birthday. June was born on May 30th,1934 with her twin sister, May, in Thetford, Norfolk, England.
June met and married Airman Ralph O. Kersten USAF on March 14,1953 in Thetford, Norfolk, England. In December of 1953 they had their first child, Richard. June and Richard travelled on the Queen Mary to the United States when Ralph was transferred to Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, Nv. June second child, Adrienne, was born there. They were then transferred back to England and June gave birth to their third child, Sandra.
They eventually ended up being transferred to Eglin AFB, 33rd Fighter Wing. June started as a waitress and Taco Hut in Fort Walton Beach and eventually became the manager at Los Panchos on the Island from 1968 till retiring in 1997.
June is preceded in death by her husband Ralph O. Kersten in 1997 and her two sisters, May and Pam. June is survived by her brother Malcolm (Sheila) Barrett, her children, Richard (Paula) Kersten, Adrienne (Gary) Cogil, Sandy Newport and Chris (Jesica) Kersten. June is also survived by granddaughters Dawn Propernick, Desiree' Kelly, Christiana Kersten, Alissa Kersten and Kailie Irby. June also has six great grandson's, Jaden and Deven Propernick, Justin, Micheal and Alexander Kelly and Noah Kersten. June also has one great granddaughter, Emileigh Kersten. June has one great great grandson, Nash Propernick. June is also survived by her cousin's Bonnie (Roy) Hill of Kankakee, IL and Jeannie (Jerry) Brown of Theodore, AL.
June moved to Bob Hope Village in 2012 and eventually moved into assisted living at Hawthorn House, in Shalimar, Fl. 32579
June has been an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church since they moved here in 1967. In leu of flowers, please send a donation the general fund of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or to Hawthorn House, 1200 Hawthorne House Dr., Shalimar, FL 32579.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 1pm on Tuesday, June 24th, 2025 @ 363 Miracle Strip Parkway, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548. Refreshments after the service in the main hall.
June was a stranger to no one, known by all and loved by more!
