Nellie June Boatright Robertson, 80, of Athens, died on Friday, January 6, 2023.
A native of Alma, GA and daughter of Jesse James Boatright and Goldie Hickox Boatright, June received degrees from Abraham Baldwin College and the University of Georgia. She worked as a County Extension Agent in Candler County and taught for 21 years as a Family and Consumer Science teacher at Clarke Central High School. June was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Athens, a member of the Hynds and Farrell Circle and the Hynds and Farrell Sunday School Class. She also loved her volunteer work. She was a charter member of Classic City Pilot Club and the University Woman's Club and served as president for both organizations. She volunteered for many years with the Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital auxiliary and served as their president as well. She also served as trustee for the Foundation for Excellence in Public Education in Clarke County, Georgia.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Walker Robertson; sister Vera Lee; and brothers: Roy T., Delman, Darrell, Edsel, Junior, W. F., J. E., Richard, Russell, Joey, and Gary Boatright, and Larry Carter.
June is survived by her sisters: Kaye Boatright of Athens, Sue Leger of Winder, and Betty Woods of Ft. Myers, FL; step-daughters: Eugenia Thompson, Florence Robertson and Joan Robertson; granddaughter Fran Thompson; and grandsons Colin Thompson and Eli Collins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21 at Athens First Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Frank Granger officiating. Interment will follow the service at Athens Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in June's memory to the Classic City Pilot Club Foundation, c/o Sandy Walker, 114 Kodiak Lane, Bogart, GA 30622.
