June Etta Scott, 78, of Albany, GA passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. She was born May 10, 1947 in Camilla, GA to the late Claborn and Leola Wallace. She was the 7th of 10 children, 6 of whom have preceded her in death namely, William Wallace, Barbara Robinson, James Wallace, John (Ray) Wallace, George Wallace and Jerry Wallace.
June was married for twenty (20) years to Benjamin Scott, who preceded her in death in December of 2024. June was always dedicated to education. She was a 1965 graduate of Camilla Consolidated High School. She later went to Albany State (College) University where she obtained a Bachelor's degree. She furthered her education earning a Master's degree from Valdosta State (College) University.
She was a dedicated educator for over thirty (30) years in the Worth County School System. She was a well known teacher. June was always known for her gentle and calm demeanor, particularly in teaching her special education students. She was a master at her craft and was named Teacher of the Year.
June was a faithful Christian and member of the Gaines Avenue (River Road) Church of Christ for over 40 years. June rarely, if ever, missed Sunday School, Wednesday Night Bible Study and Sunday worship service. She is remembered for her faithful dedication to Christian education and various ministries.
Besides her dedication to church ministry and education, June was depended upon for her contribution to the family's mutual love of food and fellowship. June was famous for her strawberry cake, egg custard pie and her macaroni and cheese with the toast on top - made just like it was when she was a child growing up in Camilla.
Many of her grandchildren called her "Grandma Suga' Sug." A play on the nickname she would often use with the younger babies in the family. She'd always love on them with her playful demeanor and say with glee, "Hey my Suga' Sug!"
June leaves to cherish her memory her children: Taffi (William) Countz, Garland (Tondelay) Woodford, April (Eugene) Autry, Mindy Woodford, Sherry Whitfield, Duane Scott, and Christopher Scott; her siblings: Betty Wilson, Joan Carter (her twin), and Cherry Wallace; her grandchildren: Mason, Troi, Mackenzi, Eugene, Zoe, Teala, Benjamin, and Dawn-Marie; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
