Justin Veit Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Justin Paul Veit, 36, of Jefferson City, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
Justin was born June 21, 1989, the son of Larry and Shirley (Otto) Veit. He was a 2007 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia. He enjoyed playing baseball for the Comets Baseball Team. Justin worked for the Public School Retirement System for 14 years, and later worked briefly for Mid-Mo Water Solutions until his health forced him to resign.
Justin was strong in his faith and a devoted member of Concord Baptist Church. He lived guided by his relationship with God-grounded in Scripture, prayer, and trust. He believed deeply in the power of talking to God as a friend, and his strength came from that unwavering faith.
He loved to travel and experienced many interesting and exciting trips, especially to places with mountains-his favorite destination of all. Justin was also a proud member of Gracie Humaita Jiu Jitsu in Columbia, where he found a second family of close friends. He earned his black belt in December 2024, a milestone he cherished.
Justin dearly loved his family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for his nephew Jaxon and niece Jada.
To know Justin was to love him, and he will be profoundly missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
Justin was grateful for all of his caregivers. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the dedicated individuals who provided comfort and support-especially the Edward's families, the hospice team especially McKena, and Dr. Caleb Smith.
Justin is survived by his loving parents, Larry and Shirley Veit; siblings Kayla Yeager (Josh), Shelby Veit; nephew Jaxon Yeager; niece Jada Yeager; maternal grandma, Marilyn Otto; paternal grandma, Ruth Veit; as well as, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandpa, Elias Otto; paternal grandpa, Clem Veit, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Humaita Jiu Jitsu or to Love Columbia, in memory of Justin Veit.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church. An additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the church. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Patrick Miller. Burial will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 W. Main St.; Jefferson City, MO 65109. (573) 636-3838. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.millardfamilychapels.com
