Forever loved, always remembered, and deeply missed. James Leonard Kelley, 71, of California, Missouri, passed away on November 10, 2025. He was born on June 12, 1954, in Salinas, California, to James Henderson and Barbara Lee (Baucom) Kelley, who preceded him in death.
James was united in marriage to Lesa Ann (Scheppers) Kelley on June 15, 1982, in Versailles, Missouri. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
He worked for Caterpillar for many years as a Maintenance Supervisor, where he was known for his dedication, integrity, and strong work ethic.
James had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing for crappie, perch, and bluegill-always releasing his catch, simply for the thrill of it. He shared his love for motorcycles with his wife and together they took many long road trips on their bikes, including a memorable cross-country ride from Joliet, Illinois, to the Santa Monica Pier in California along Route 66.
A devoted family man, James cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He enjoyed playing dominoes and Texas Dice with family, and his grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. In later years, he found peace in the mountains near Tucson, Arizona, and loved watching the Northern Lights when they danced over Missouri skies.
James is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lesa Ann Kelley; two sons, Justin (Casey) Kelley and James Robert (Cassie) Kelley; one daughter, Lena (Robert) Sipnefski; three sisters, Priscilla (Mike) Sims, Susie McMicken, and Diane (Tommy) Cabinella; nine grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.
Per his wishes, there will be no services held at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 W. Main St.; Jefferson City, MO 65109. (573) 636-3838. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.millardfamilychapels.com
