Kaitlynn Jean Hicks, 8 years young, of Eminence, left this world suddenly and unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 31, 2024. She made her entrance into this world on May 11, 2016, in Danville to Randy Hicks, Jr. and Dana Ford.
Katie attended Puzzle Pieces Daycare as a small child, was enrolled at Monrovia Elementary School, Eminence Elementary School, before switching gears and was home schooled. She played softball at Monrovia and Eminence and was a beast as a catcher. The youngest of four, she was determined to hang out with her older sisters and their friends. Sarcastic and sassy, she loved dogs, playing in the pool during the summer heat, running barefoot year-round, jumping on the trampoline, playing Roblox and taking selfies with Snapchat filters. A bottomless pit, the seemingly starving (but not) little girl ate nonstop, from peanut butter Oreos, tootsie rolls from her Nanny's, anything sour, banana peppers straight from the garden, corn and mashed potatoes, and peanut butter toast (4 pieces!).
Social yet shy, she made the combination work for her. Her best friend was Teagan, and she liked to play with her Barbies that she kept stashed under her bed. Katie recently learned to apply her own make up, and she caught on extremely fast and mastered the skill quickly. A music lover, she appreciated all types of music, especially Melanie Martinez and sang along to all her favorite songs. Creative by nature, she enjoyed puzzles, card games, crafts and coloring. She adored riding topless and doorless in the Jeep, and most recently she discovered the joy of the wind in her hair while riding on the back of a Harley. Although stubborn and bossy at times, she was truly a force to be reckoned with. Katie Jean Hicks, the beautiful young soul, left this world way too young and she leaves a trail of tears and heartache, and a life unfinished, but her memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, especially her loving parents.
Left behind to carry on her legacy are her parents, Randy Hicks (Jenni) of Indianapolis, and Dana Ford of Eminence; siblings, Hailey, Mackenzie, and Brendon Hicks of Eminence; step brother, Zephyr McGlaughlin of Indianapolis; grandparents, Kathy and Richard Ford of Eminence, and Randall and Cathy Hicks of Indianapolis; great grandparents, Janet Hicks of Speedway, and Ray Strickland Sr. (Suzanne) of Indianapolis; and aunts, Desiree Ford of Eminence, Jennifer Rogers (Dustin), Angela Hicks, and Christina Hicks all of Indianapolis.
