Kami Joyce Kennedy, 49, of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, passed away at her home on June 26, 2025, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Born on Valentine's Day in 1976 in Asheville, North Carolina, Kami graduated from the University of Georgia in 1998 with a degree in Fashion Merchandising. She developed a passion for fashion at an early age, often changing clothes three times a day. Kami went on to work in product development, merchandising, and logistics for many legendary brands such as Ralph Lauren, Betsy Johnson, and Nike. For twenty years, Kami was a dedicated member of Oakhurst Partners, contributing her talent to their Amicale Cashmere line.
In addition to her successful career, Kami lived a life full of adventure and compassion for others. You could often find her singing along at a Kenny Chesney or Zac Brown Band concert; cheering for her beloved Georgia Bulldogs and New York Yankees; or planning girls' trips to the beach and her favorite mountain town of Aspen, Colorado. She enjoyed running and took great pride in running the New York City Marathon. Above all, she was a loyal and devoted friend who made a point to connect with friends from all corners of her life long before cell phones and social media made it easier.
Kami was preceded in death by her husband, Army Major Thomas E. Kennedy, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2012. Through Tom, Kami became a revered Army wife where she and Tom mentored young cadets by hosting dinners in their home and spirited tailgates at Michie Stadium. She was a member of the West Point Spouse's Club and the Family Readiness Group at Fort Carson, providing support for active military families. After Tom's death, Kami dedicated her life to supporting, fundraising, and championing families of the fallen. Together, Tom and Kami have been described as "amazing Americans."
Kami's greatest legacy are her twin children, Margaret (Maggie) Kennedy and Brody Kennedy. After losing their father before their second birthday, Kami courageously raised her children to be strong, determined, charitable, resilient, and most importantly: kind. In addition to Maggie and Brody, Kami is survived by her loving parents, Carl Franklin (Frank) and Debra Joyce; devoted sister Kitchi Joyce of Peachtree Corners, Georgia; In-Laws George and Patricia Kennedy of the Villages, Florida; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Amy Kennedy of Suwanee, Georgia; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Katie Kennedy of Royersford, Pennsylvania; her adoring nieces and nephews: Tucker, Tanner, Declan, Kenzie, Molly, Jack, and Corinne; special aunts Tina Jefferson Dickens of Cascade, Montana, Diane Nelson and Carol Tilley of Madison, North Carolina, and Patty Wood of Lawsonville, North Carolina; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss her immeasurably.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Atlanta Athletic Club from 4pm-7pm on July 26th, 2025, where Maggie has requested everyone wear bright colors to commemorate Kami's radiant spirit. A funeral will follow at 10:00am on August 7th, at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, where she will be inurned with her husband.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org) who have been providing mortgage free homes for fallen heroes since 9/11; or the TK Scholarship Fund (TKScholarshipFund), founded in 2012 to assist student-athletes with academic and leadership opportunities

Dear Kami and Kennedy family. I applaud your bravery and legacy of helping others after your own loss. We have a West Point connection and the connection of raising two young children after the sudden and very sad loss of a loving partner/husband and father. If I can be of any help please let me know (even if just escaping a hot summer.) May God´s blessings and the memories of your loved ones bring you peace.
