Celebrating the Life of Nellie "Nell" Mae Proctor

Nellie "Nell" Mae Proctor, 92, passed peacefully on August 26, 2025 - just the way she lived: surrounded by love, full of grace, and on her own terms.

Born in Lula, Georgia, on April 5, 1933, Nellie lived a life rooted in family, faith, hard work, and just the right amount of stubbornness. She built a beautiful life in Norcross, Georgia, where she raised her daughters, spoiled her grandchildren, and welcomed great-grandchildren into the world with open arms.

She was "Mother," "Nanny," or "Nell." Retiring from General Motors she started a business, Nell's Produce. Known for supplying the best and freshest produce, which she knew well from growing up on a farm and tending her own home gardens. Nell's Produce in Dunwoody and Alpharetta soon became neighborhood staples, not just for the peaches and tomatoes, but for the smiles and encouragement she handed out freely.

Nell never missed a family beach trip (Hollywood Beach was her favorite). She enjoyed crocheting and was a devout member of Norcross First Global Methodist Church, where she made everyone feel loved and appreciated.

She leaves behind a grateful family: daughter Susan Barta and husband John and daughter Rita Espinoza; grandchildren Jeff Byers, Tate Clements, Eric Espinoza, and Kathryn Barta; and great-grandchildren Ava, Alexander, and Baylor - each of whom carry a bit of her spark.

She's now reunited with those she missed dearly: Henry Proctor, her many beloved siblings, and her son-in-law, Alex Espinoza, among others. No doubt, there's a family reunion happening in heaven.

Funeral services to honor Nell's life will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Norcross Global United Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Bradford officiating. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family will gather on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory.

Nell lived with warmth, humor, and an unshakable love for her family and friends. In her honor, tell someone you love them today. Or just sit with someone and talk, that is what she did.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in memory of Nell Proctor.
