Karen A. Ambrosino, age 72 of Gloversville, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, NY.
Born on June 11, 1952, Karen is the daughter of the late Robert and Grace Kearns. She was a graduate of Gloversville High School and spent her years as a stay-at-home mother to her three beautiful daughters.
In addition to being the best mother she could be, Karen owned and operated Starlite Lanes, previously known as Sunset Bowling Center, with her now late-husband. She was an especially sturdy foundation for her family during this time, providing unwavering support while her husband spent late nights and weekends building their business. Behind the scenes, Karen kept the home running with love, strength, and quiet grace – always putting her family first. Starlite Lanes provided their family with many fond memories; there they created a strong community of bowlers and friends, where Karen bowled in many leagues and eventually was inducted into the Fulton County Bowlers Hall of Fame.
While navigating the responsibilities of motherhood and eventually grandparenthood, Karen expanded her horizons and dove into her own interests. She loved anything to do with the water; from becoming scuba certified to teaching her grandchildren how to swim, Karen loved it all. She also had a crafty and incredibly creative side to her – Karen spent a great deal of time sewing Christmas stockings for friends and family, crafting blankets and pillows, gardening, reading, singing, and playing Farmville. Karen was a ray of sunshine, creating and spreading goodness, while shining her light on those she cherished most.
Karen is survived by her three daughters, Betty Daley (Robert Quillan) of Johnstown, NY, Margaret Davis (Matt Davis) of Fort Myers, FL, and Tamasina "Tammy" Vincent (Tracy McMahon) of Middletown, NY; six grandchildren, Natasha Malagisi (Ethan Malagisi), Alexandra Vincent, Jaiden LaBar, Nicholas Vincent, Lane Daley, and Keagan LaBar; five great-grandchildren, Lilyan Malagisi, Logan Malagisi, Charlotte Malagisi, Cydney Malagisi, and Mazikeen Paz; a sister, Martha Glenn; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Malagisi and Tina Ambrosino, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Karen has finally found what is at the end of the rainbow, the love of her life, Larry Ambrosino, who has been waiting for her with open arms. In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her granddaughter, Kiley LaBar.
A Celebration of Karen's Life will take place at a later date. She will forever be loved and missed. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer's Association.
