Karen F. Davis, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Born on December 2, 1950, in Augusta, Georgia, Karen lived a life defined by love, faith, and a deep commitment to serving others. She graduated from Myers Park High School and continued her education at Central Piedmont Community College. Karen spent her professional career as an administrative assistant with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Her dedication reflected her values of care, commitment, and a strong belief in the importance of education.
A devoted member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, Karen’s faith was the foundation of her life. She gave her time and heart to numerous ministries, including the Prayer Shawl Ministry and Bright Blessings. She was also an active Pairs and Spares Sunday School class member and supported many church outreach efforts, such as Cub Scouts, hospital visits, and the Discipleship Bible Study course. Her spiritual presence was a light to many in the congregation and beyond.
Karen is survived by her loving sons, Matthew (Tina) Davis of Deerfield, Illinois, and Andrew (Amy) Davis of Rowland, North Carolina; her cherished grandchildren, Christian Wood, Dylan Wood, and Lilliana Davis; and her devoted sisters, Leslie Fouche and Stacy Loughran. She also leaves behind many treasured brothers- and sisters-in-law, along with numerous adored nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Benny “Rick” Davis, her lifelong partner and greatest supporter, and their faithful four-legged companion, Maggie. Karen was also predeceased by her father, Reginald Allen Fouche; her mother and stepfather, June and Jack Loughran; her aunt, Gloria Hazel Hixon; her brothers, Tracey and Derrick Loughran; and her beloved grandson, Austin Wood.
Outside of her work and church commitments, Karen enjoyed cheering on the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Braves. She especially cherished visits to Pembroke, North Carolina, and held a deep affection for the First Apostolic Church of Pembroke under the leadership of Bishop Earl Chavis. Karen loved being a Nana to Lilliana and enjoyed visiting Matt and Tina in Illinois for holidays, Lilliana's baptism, and 1st Birthday.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:30 p.m., as we honor and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman whose kindness, unwavering faith, and loving spirit touched all who knew her.
