Holden - Karen A. (Abramson) Howarth, 79, beloved wife of James E. Howarth, II, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus. Born and raised in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Irene (Ferguson) Abramson.
Karen met her future husband of 54 years, Jimmy, and they were married in 1971. They honeymooned at her favorite spot, Hampton Beach, and they returned every summer since. In 1971, Karen and James settled in Holden and together they raised their two children. In addition to her husband, Karen is survived by her son, Nicholas Howarth and his wife, Nichole of West Boylston; her daughter, Jill Howarth of Leicester; a sister, Sue Cassidy of Holden; four grandchildren, Ayden and Matthew Beique and Riley and Alexandra Howarth; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Douglas Abramson.
Karen worked for Astra for many years, followed by Lyons Press. Later, Karen enjoyed a long career as a receiver for Big Y, retiring after 19 years of service. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking and spending time with her family and friends. She was never happier than when she was with her Grandchildren, which were her truest and most precious moments.
In keeping with Karen’s wishes, there are no services. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
