Karen Levine

Karen M. (Gates) Levine, 82, of Somers, CT, beloved wife of the late Arnold Levine, left us for her eternal home on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. She was born in Rockville, CT on October 12, 1942, to the late Albert and Cecile (Pierre) Gates. Karen grew up in Enfield, where she graduated from Enfield High School. Afterward, she married, relocated to Somers and raised her family, building a life filled with love and adventure.
Karen and Arnie shared many memorable years in the fireworks business with a stand in Enfield. They also enjoyed putting on shows at hosted events with family and friends. In earlier years, her caring spirit was evident in her work at Parkway Pavilion nursing home, where she made a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Karen had a deep love for animals and spent many years breeding and training dogs.
Her home was her sanctuary. Karen enjoyed reading, planning and cooking gourmet meals, tending to her garden, and taking moments to reflect on the beauty of nature outside her window. An avid traveler, she and Arnie took many journeys to the Caribbean, across the U.S. in their RV, and to Daytona FL creating lasting memories on their adventures.
Karen's absence will be deeply felt by her family and friends. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Gigi Emrick of New Hampshire; her grandsons, Stefano and Alberto Emrick of Italy and Norway respectively; and many dear friends including John and France Chatis, who were like a son and daughter to her. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Barry Levine and his wife Anne of the UK. In addition to her husband Arnie, Karen was predeceased by her beloved son Rex.
A visitation will take place on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers, with a funeral service immediately following at 1 p.m. Burial will take place in Somers Center Cemetery.
