Catherine Mary Harris

Catherine Mary (Gosselin) Harris, 68, of Somers, beloved wife of George "Chuck" Gunn, passed away at her home on Thursday, November 28, 2024 with her family by her side. Catherine was born on September 22, 1956, in Hartford, CT, to the late Joseph and Mary (Chesanek) Gosselin. She moved to Somers at the age of 16, where she would live for the rest of her life. In Somers, Catherine met and married her first husband, William Harris, with whom she raised her five children. After her children were grown, Catherine pursued her passion for nursing and earned her degree, embarking on a rewarding career as a Registered Nurse. She spent many years working in the Operating Room and later in Cardiac Rehabilitation, where she met her second husband, Chuck.
Family and faith were at the heart of Catherine's life. In her younger years, she embraced her adventurous spirit, enjoying hiking, camping, volleyball, and other outdoor activities with William and their children. As she grew older, Catherine treasured traveling with Chuck, taking long drives in their Mustang convertible, and spending winters at their home in Clearwater, FL. Her love for life and her family will always be remembered.
In addition to her husband Chuck, Catherine is survived by her children: Michael Harris and his wife Lauren of MI, Brendan Harris and his wife Peggy of WA, Justin Harris and his wife Anook of Barkhamsted, Joan Marie Smith and her husband Matthew of VA, and Rosanne Mathes and her husband David of East Windsor. She leaves behind 18 cherished grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Catherine is also survived by her 11 siblings: Roger Gosselin, Leona Crosskey and her husband Bill, Theresa Munson and her husband Bill, Andrew Gosselin and his wife Lisa, Mark Gosselin and his wife Diana, Maryadele Moore and her husband Scott, Joseph Gosselin, Vincent Gosselin and his wife Michelle, Raymond Gosselin and his wife Shelly, Phillip Gosselin and his wife Jodi, and Christopher Gosselin and his wife Julie. She was predeceased by her first husband, William Harris III and her granddaughter Colleen Bernadette Smith.
Catherine's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street, Somers, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at St. Mary Church, 27 Somers Road, Hampden, MA. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Somers Center Cemetery, Somers, CT.
