Karl E. Schmidt

Karl E. Schmidt, age 64 of Clay, Michigan, passed away on April 25, 2023. He was born in Detroit, MI on December 17, 1958 to the late "Dutch" and "Sassy" Schmidt. He was the loving husband of Vickie for over 24 years.
For all of his working life, Karl proudly managed and operated Sassy Marina in Algonac, following in the footsteps of his father. He was a man of many talents, enjoying snowmobiling, flying his private plane, sailing Michigan waters including over 20 years of Mackinac races, and riding his vintage motorcycle. He was an avid Euchre player, always looked forward to going to the Upper Peninsula, and always had a good story to tell. Most importantly, Karl always put family first, and he could often be found hanging out with and carrying his beloved canine companion, Peanut.
Karl is survived by his beloved wife Vickie, children Stephanie (Kyle) Dexter, Kyle (Stephanie) Schmidt, and stepson Nick Cody, grandchildren Jacob, Samantha, Sarah, Charlie, and Cora, siblings Russell (Ginny) and Glen (Robin) Schmidt, as well as a host of many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, Mt. Clemens. A celebration of Karl's life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, with times and location details currently pending. Karl had a generous heart, and in his memory, the family requests you to do a good deed for someone else.
