Kate Elizabeth Callens Dodson

Kate Elizabeth (Callens) Dodson, age 31, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her husband and parents, at her home in South Mills, NC. Kate was born on October 8, 1991, in Baltimore, MD and raised in Ellicott City, MD. She was a 2005 graduate of St. Louis School in Clarksville, MD and a 2009 graduate of Mount de Sales Academy, in Catonsville, MD. In early 2012, Kate was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and fearlessly battled the disease with strength, resilience, grace, and a selfless attitude for over 11 years. While facing this adversity, and during the most challenging times in her life, she always put others before herself, maintained a positive outlook, and excelled in all her endeavors. Kate graduated Summa cum laude from Towson University in 2013, with a B.S. Degree in Exercise Science, and was recognized as the Outstanding Graduate of the School of Kinesiology. During her graduate studies, Kate was selected as the student representative on the University's Advisory Counsel for the Physician Assistant Degree Program. In 2016, she earned her M.S. Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Towson University and was again selected as the Outstanding Student of her graduating class.
Kate was a highly respected physician assistant in the Emergency Department of Chesapeake Regional Medical Center in Chesapeake, VA and at America Family Care (AFC) Urgent Care in Clearwater, FL.
Kate most enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and her dog Bella. She loved new adventures and experiences, but most of all, she loved being at the beach with her loved ones.
Kate is survived by the love of her life, Weston Dodson, devoted parents, Bob and Tracey Callens (Borkowski), loving siblings, Kristen Davis (Donnie) and Matthew Callens, niece, Emily Davis and nephews, Afton, Michael, and Grayson Davis, her grandmothers, Kathleen Callens and Janice Borkowski, parents-in-law, Philip and Leigh Dodson, brothers-in-law, Preston and Lofton Dodson, sister-in-law, Karaleigh Dodson, fourteen aunts and uncles, twenty cousins, and many friends. She was predeceased by her grandfathers, Robert Callens and Milton Borkowski.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, 12500 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029.
