Katherin "Kathi" Loretta Clayton Swan passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, September 27th, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathi was born on January 7, 1952, to Ray and Gertrude (Fortson) Clayton, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in passing by her brother, Larry Clayton as well as her grandparents.

She leaves behind her children: Amy (Sue) Cruz, Brian (Nicole) Davis, and Mark Davis; grandchildren: Ali, Beatrice, Abby, Katie, Maddie, Alex, Oliver, and Mara; and great-grandchildren: Sutton, Laila, Ben, Matthew, Jozie, Ellie, and Juliet. She is also survived by her siblings: MaryAnn (Dick) Calderwood, Mike (Candi) Clayton, and Roger Clayton; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

Kathi was a woman of many talents and passions. An avid quilter, she made sure every member of her family received a one-of-a-kind quilt stitched with love. She was also known for her baking, always ready to create something special for weddings, birthdays, and family celebrations. She found great joy in her work as a school bus driver for Mattawan Schools, where she adored "her kids" and the community she served.

Above all, Kathi's greatest joy came from time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her laughter, warmth, and radiant spirit lit up every room she entered. To know Kathi was truly to love her-she was adored by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.

"To a loving mom and grandma, you were always loving, caring, unselfish, and did everything you could for your kids and grandkids. From blankets, cookies, and cupcakes, we will always love you. Without you, we wouldn't be where we are today. We will strive to be just like you one day." – Mark, Maddie, Alex, Oliver, and Mara.

In accordance with Kathi's wishes, no formal memorial service will be held. Instead, a celebration of her life will take place at the American Legion in Berrien Springs (112 N Bluff St.), October 18, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
