Katherine M. "Kay" (Johnson) Calabro, of Weymouth, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Windrose in Weymouth. She was 93.
Kay was born in Boston on February 14, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Frederick and Minnie (Fields) Johnson.
Kay was a person who lived life to the fullest, known for her caring, generous spirit and her zest for adventure.
Kay loved spending time with those she held dear, often enjoying nights playing Bingo, going to Foxwoods, and dancing with her beloved husband. She was the heart of every gathering, bringing warmth and laughter to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her love for her family was boundless, and she especially cherished her trips to Florida to visit loved ones. Those who knew her will always remember her selflessness and her ability to make everyone feel like family.
Kay was a long-time family friend of the Tinney family, and her kindness and friendship will forever be remembered by all who were touched by her life.
Kay was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Calabro, with whom she shared 60 years with. She was the devoted mother of Mary Lou Frisoli and her husband William of Weymouth, Linda J. Donovan of Weymouth, Paul J. Calabro and his partner Vicki Compston of Quincy, late Gail Walter, and the late Brian Calabro. Kay was the loving grandmother of Chuckie, Mary Beth, Melissa (Steve) and Kevin (Rose) and the loving great grandmother of Shane, Nico, Taylor, Rocco, Giuliana, Mila, Parker, Keira and Maeve. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 9-11 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St,. QUINCY.
Her funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 11 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Cremation will follow.
Kay will be interred privately in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
