A nurturing homemaker, Katherine dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a remarkable cook, known for her delicious meals that brought family and friends together. Katherine's warm heart and generous spirit extended beyond her family, as she was an active member of her church, living her faith through service and compassion. She was also a master of word searches, finding joy in challenges that kept her mind sharp and entertained.
Katherine is survived by her beloved daughter, Veronica Penn; sister, June Franklin, her grandchildren, Kathy (Gerald) Brown, Jeffery Gales, Michael (Jemia) Gales, Gina (Barry) Nesbitt, Carlisa (John) Poole, Damon (Michelle) Curtis; great grandchildren, Romar (Megan) Roberson, Stephen (Miranda) Gales, Elan Brown, Brittany Roberson, Starla (James) Wells, Miles Brown, Rashaunda Jackson, Cameron Brown, Brandon Thomas, Ava Curtis, Claire Curtis, Michael Gales Jr., Maurice Gales, Marcellas Gales, Marcus Gales, and Tyler Brown; great- great grandchildren Keyana Gales, Stephen Gales Jr., Rhian Roberson, Reymir Jackson, Reyonna Jackson, Riley Roberson, Maya Roberson, Averi Brown-Jackson, Marcellas Gales Jr., Zyair Wells, Trebreh Wells, Harmonie Andrews, Marcus Gales Jr., Marquese Gales, Mara Gales and Marqueo Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, and sister-in-laws; many "bonus" grandchildren and friends who knew her as "Granny" or "Nay-Nay; dear friend, Lillian Brewton; god daughter, Tanea Spencer, and honorary grand puppy, Ka$h.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Foster and Mary Borders; beloved husband, Frank G Penn; daughter, Bernice Curtis; and siblings, Samuel Borders, Lenzie Borders, Eugene Borders, Foster Borders Jr., Louise Outlaw, Lela Mae McLean, Alfred Borders, and Kenneth Borders.
A funeral service will be held in her honor on August 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Reed Funeral Home, NORTH CANTON Chapel. There will be no calling hours. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Katherine's incredible life and share cherished memories. Flowers can be sent to Reed Funeral Home North Canton.
