Kathie Elaine Saunders-Savage, born on June 27, 1949, in Ogden, Utah, was finally reunited with her beloved husband and son on May 26, 2025, at the age of 75. Residing in Clinton, Utah, at the time of her passing, Kathie was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was a testament to hard work, resilience, and joy.
Kathie's journey was marked by her pioneering spirit and dedication to her family. As one of the first women to break into the construction industry as a truck driver, demonstrating that determination and perseverance could overcome any barrier. Her work ethic was unparalleled, and she took great pride in providing for her family.
Her vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Kathie was a ray of sunshine, always happy and outgoing, with an innate desire to help others. Her infectious smile and positive outlook made her a cherished friend to many, and her kindness knew no bounds.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kathie's greatest joy and fulfillment came from her family. She was a devoted mother to her son and daughter, Shawn Whittemore and Monica Taylor, Grandmother to her grandchildren, Braydee and Paige Taylor, and great-grandmother to her great-grandson, Aiden Taylor, who will carry on her legacy. Kathie's life was also touched by the profound loss of her son, Shawn Whittemore; her beloved husband, Lewis Savage; and her cat Zadarlee, who will welcome her with open arms. Despite these heartaches, Kathie remained a pillar of strength and a beacon of light to those around her.
A moderately religious person, Kathie found comfort and guidance in her Christian faith, which supported her throughout her life's journey. Her beliefs were reflected in her actions, as she lived with compassion and kindness, embodying the values she held dear.
Kathie Elaine Savage will be deeply missed, but her legacy of strength, kindness, and pioneering spirit will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
A limb has fallen from the family tree. I hear a voice that says, "Grieve not for me. Remember the good times, the laughter, and the song. The good life that I've lived when I was strong. Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you. Keep up my traditions, no matter how small, feel me in your heart whenever you call. Keep my name alive, whether a whisper or a shout. Keep smiling, and surely the sun will shine. My soul is at rest, please don't worry about me. Remember the good times and the laughter we've shared. Just see that I am blessed because I know that you cared. I will miss you all dearly, however, I am a part of you. Go on and live your life, don't cry for me, make memories I would love to see. I will fly high, wings stretched wide, to watch over you. For I am a free bird, singing a song for you. When your heart feels heavy, give me your worries. I am the whisper in the wind, the warmth in the sun. never forget me because my life has just begun."
