Kathleen M. (Halley) Bylund, 78, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Quaboag Rehabilitation in West Brookfield, with her loving family at her side. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John E. "Jack" Bylund, Jr., in 1993.
She leaves her devoted daughters, Kirsten E. Pokropowicz and her husband George, of Auburn; Jill A. Doolin and her husband Bob, of Charlton, and her cherished grandchildren, John and Georgia Pokropowicz, of Auburn; Allie, Amy, and Michael, of Charlton, Lynn Corfey, who was like a third daughter to Kathleen; Kathleen's sister Barbara of Providence and was also predeceased by ten of her eleven siblings: and their parents, William and Frances O. (Gorski) Halley. Kathleen also shared a close relationship over the years with her sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was born and raised in Rhode Island. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School where she shared many cherished memories with her close friends Barbara, Kathy, and Connie Sue. After marriage she moved to Auburn where she raised her family. She also became a CNA and worked for many years for Auburn District Nursing.
In her early years, Kathleen enjoyed spending her summers with her family and friends in Point Judith, Rhode Island. She especially enjoyed spending her time at home by the lake with her grandchildren. This precious time with her five grandchildren was the highlight of her life...they were her pride and joy.
Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Quaboag Rehabilitation for their compassion and care of Kathleen, especially Lynn Corfey, the Executive Director.
Her family will be celebrating Kathy's life privately, with the assistance of the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home.
