Kathleen M. Kennedy

Kathleen M. (Kathy) Kennedy passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, at the age of 78. Born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut, she was the daughter of former Stamford Mayor and NBA Commissioner J. Walter and Marion McRedmond Kennedy.
Kathy attended Elizabeth Seton College and, upon graduation, began what would become a decades-long career as an executive secretary at Pitney Bowes-a role that suited her perfectly. She was known for her professionalism, loyalty, and sharp wit.
She spent most of her life in Stamford, where she could be found doing what she did best: caring for those around her, making the best chocolate chip cookies ever, and telling it like it is. In her later years, she moved to Winter Park, Florida, trading New England winters for poolside afternoons.
Kathy loved to travel, especially to warm and sunny places, and she had a well-developed appreciation for beaches, cruise ships, and resort pools. She also had a strong appreciation for her people. Though she never had children of her own, she fiercely loved her nieces and nephews-Kelly Bernot (Mike), Bobby, PJ (Sandy), and Chris (Jen) Kennedy-her 11 great-nieces and -nephews, as well as her cousin Rick Petersen (Ellen), her sister-in-law Bartan, her chosen family Victoria Esperance, Bryan Calixte, and Micheline Calixte, and many lifelong friends who were as dear to her as family.
She was predeceased by her parents, J. Walter and Marion Kennedy, and her beloved brothers, David and Robert. Those who knew her won't soon forget her one-of-a-kind blend of wit, warmth, loyalty, and just the right amount of sass.
A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at St. Bridget of Ireland Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue in Stamford, on Tuesday, May 13, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice, and spend a little extra time in the sun speaking your mind-just the way Kathy would've liked it.
