Kathleen Damron McCarty, 88, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024 at Chautauqua Nursing Home. She was born April 4, 1936 in Hawesville to the late Phinton John and Myrtle Ree Ball. Kathleen grew up in Cannelton, Indiana and later married and moved to Owensboro. She retired from General Electric and MPD after 36 years and went on to retire from Kroger after 20 years. Kathleen was a member of Calvary Wesleyan Church where she was church treasurer and a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. Kathleen loved spending time with her family and cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, William Damron and Francis "Frank" McCarty; and a daughter, Kathy Elaine Damron.
She is survived by a son, John William Damron (Brenda); daughters, Judy Kay Barton (Michael) and Connie S. White (Penny); stepdaughter, Tammy Shearer (Paul); grandchildren, William "Billy Joe" Carden, Janetta Lyn Mackey, John William Damron, Jr., Jason Douglas White, and Jennifer Kathleen White-Schumann; step-grandson, Kieth Wheeler; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Shriners Hospital for Children, 110 Conn Terrace, Lexington, KY 40508.
