Kathleen Irene Miller, 80, of Bridgeport, NE passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Morrill County Hospital in Bridgeport. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am on Friday, May 2, 2025, at All Souls Catholic Church in Bridgeport with Fr. Tim Stoner as Celebrant. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30am preceding the service. Online condolences may be made by viewing Kathleen's memorial page at www.bridgmanfuneralhome.com.
My mom was a warrior born and raised in Red Willow County, Nebraska. They tell me she was a free-spirit who rode on the back of a motorcycle, broke wild horses and shot blue rocks for sport.
After high school, she was drawn to the bright lights of the big city and got her degree in Nursing from Creighton University in Omaha. She had found her true calling, taking care of the sick.
Along came her three sons: Dan, Doug and Dustin. We couldn't have asked for a more loving, generous, inspiring person to have as the perfect role model for our journey to adulthood.
When she wasn't helping to cure the ill, she was guiding us through life by sharing her knowledge and experience. She taught us how to endure difficult times and overcome any obstacles that stood in our way.
She was an accomplished horsewoman who had the astonishing ability to communicate with all species of animals and birds. Her cherished yard was a lush, colorful, botanical garden that rivaled anything hung in Babylon.
When grandchildren came into the fold her attention was diverted to spoiling those kids, especially at Christmas when family time became a precious gift in itself. Although, before any presents were allowed to be opened, Midnight Mass had to be observed.
She reveled in retirement and traveling to exotic locales was a dream fulfilled. Her favorite adventure had to be exploring the jungles of Panama where she marveled at the wildlife and fascinating culture.
In later years, her physical health began to decline but her mental powers were as super as ever. She strove to understand the Bible, ancient history and other mysteries of the universe through intensive study and note taking.
As I sit here at the old homestead writing these final words, I'm looking out over her Elysian Fields. The peacocks have gathered around the porch waiting for her to come back and talk to them. But she's not coming back. My mom has flown to Paradise for all eternity.

Kay was my mentor. She tucked me under her wing as a baby nurse and taught my the unwritten rules of nursing... the rules and tricks you can´t learn in school. We called it the "third dimension".
She was wise, caring, with her no nonsense ways to deal with the hardest things. I will miss her terribly.

Kay was a hard-working, unique and fun-loving person. I recently spoke with her on the phone and she sounded like the same Kay. Even her voice was distinctive. I am grateful we had the opportunity to reminisce; we even talked about the peacocks.

The angels in Heaven are rejoicing because Kay has come home.

My condolences to the family.
