Kathleen T. Reilly, 91, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie and formerly of Brooklyn, died on March 25, 2023.
Born in Brooklyn on December 20, 1931, she was the daughter of Michael and Kathleen (Garvey) Heffernan. She had worked as a processor for Title Abstract in Brooklyn.
On July 3, 1953 in Brooklyn, Kitty married John Reilly who predeceased her on October 16, 1965. Following his untimely death, Kitty bravely raised their three small children. Thirty years ago, she purchased her home in the Town of Poughkeepsie and she immediately joined Cross Court where she regularly played tennis until she was 86. She was also a parishioner of St. Mary, Our Lady of the Falls in Wappingers Falls.
Kitty is survived by her children and their spouses, James and Carol Reilly, Kathy and Joseph McCabe, and Patricia and Kevin McKenna; her grandchildren, Matthew, William and Erin Reilly, Bridget and Mike Soper, Caitlin and John Desgranges, Terrence McCabe, and Ryan, Colleen, Thomas and Kelly McKenna. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Eileen Reilly; and her siblings, John Heffernan, Michael Heffernan, Rev. James F. Heffernan, Eileen Heffernan, and Rev. Thomas A. Heffernan.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 3-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Charles Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Mary Help of Christians Academy, 659 Belmont Avenue, North Haledon, NJ 07508.
