The younger of two daughters born to Frank and Joanne Monastro, Madeline started life out in New York City before moving to Pompton Plains at the age of two. Growing up, she attended the Immaculate Heart of Mary grammar school in Wayne, and later the Mary Help of Christians Academy.
Madeline struggled with both her mental and physical health, starting at an early age. Though she was thrown many obstacles, she never lost her zest for life. She had a big spirit, and no matter what difficulties lay before her, always managed to keep on trucking. She fought throughout her terminal diagnosis hard, even until the last day, when she finally allowed herself to let go.
Madeline loved to spend her days walking, and really enjoyed visiting local thrift shops, where she perused the racks for her favorite fashionable pieces of clothing. She also was a huge reader, and enjoyed the many books that her sister, Linda, would share with her. Madeline made friends easily, and was always happy to spend time with them.
Madeline was predeceased by both her parents. She is lovingly survived by her sister, Linda Monastro and her partner, Sandy Beresford.
Funeral services will be held privately for the family.
