It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of Kathleen F. Shanks, 92 of Powell, Ohio on September 26th, 2025.
Kathleen was born in
Ashland, Kentucky on October 14th, 1932, to the late Hugh and Kathleen Faulkner. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald, son Stephen, siblings Virginia Lou Blevins, and Glenn Faulkner, along with her beloved feline Chloe.
Kathleen lived most of her life in Ashland. She married Gerald in 1953. Together they raised two children, Stephen and Teresa. Kathleen and Gerald were active members of First Christian Church. Kathleen attended Ashland College and worked at Ashland Optical before her career as a buyer with C.H. Parsons. As a buyer, she loved traveling to market in New York City and Dallas, Texas. Fashion played a big role in Kathleen's life, always coordinating her attire with jewelry, handbags and shoes.
Kathleen was a strong-willed, independent lady throughout her life. After the death of her son, Kathleen moved to Powell, Ohio to be close to her daughter Teresa. She loved animals big and small, but her feline pets were her closest companions. She loved to cook and never came empty-handed to a party. Christmas was her favorite holiday, spending hours decorating her tree, finding the perfect place for each Hallmark ornament. If she had a gift for you, it was wrapped to perfection to match your personality.
Kathleen always enjoyed a beach vacation to either Treasure Island, Florida to visit her dear friend Penny, or to Sanibel Island, Florida with her family. One of her greatest joys was seeing her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grand-dogs.
Kathleen is survived by daughter Teresa (Rob) Wettling of Powell, Ohio; grandsons Greg (Kate) Shanks of Frankfort, Kentucky; Ryan (Emily) Shanks of
Ashland, Kentucky; granddaughters Ashley (Brent) Guiliani of Georgetown, Kentucky; Ali (Kyle) Kready of Delaware, Ohio; great-grandchildren Tyler and Brendan Shanks, Blake and Anna Guiliani, Mia Kready, daughter-in-law Temia Shanks of Aiken, SC and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 11:00am at the Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with a brief service at 12:00 by Rev. Dr. Jacque` Compton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SourcePoint of Delaware County at www.mysourcepoint.org/give or Friends Of Greenup Paws.
