Kathryn "Katie" Bowers, 45, of Osceola entered peaceful rest on Thursday, July 4, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 14, 1978, in Titusville, FL to Walter S. and April B. Tochman, and later married Eric Bowers on June 11, 2011.
Eric survives along with their children, Brandon Tochman-Hedman and Haley Bowers both at home, a sister, April Hutchison-James of New Hampshire and her nephew John of Texas, and many close friends who were treated like family. She was preceded in death by her mother, April Tochman in 2002.
Katie was a beacon of love and compassion. Despite her own illness and suffering, she consistently demonstrated selflessness, always prioritizing the needs of those around her. Her caring nature shone brightly even in the darkest times. Katie had a passion for riding motorcycles, a joy she shared with Eric. She also found great enjoyment in reading Nicholas Sparks' books, losing herself in the heartfelt stories he crafted. Her commitment to her community was evident through her active membership in the Women's Auxiliary of the Osceola Volunteer Fire Department, where she devoted her time and energy to support and uplift others. Her legacy of kindness and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A time to visit with family is scheduled for Thursday, July 11, from 3-7pm at Michiana Community Church, Granger, and on Friday, July 12 from 9-10 with a service beginning at 10am. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses and college funds for the children.
