Kathryn M. Kershner died peacefully at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest on February 25, 2026. She lived a long and fulfilling life of 103 years, and took great pleasure in gardening, cooking, creating beautiful things and spending time with friends and family. There were so many people who loved her for her quiet spirit, her kindness and her willingness to be of service.

She was born in Allentown on August 17, 1922 daughter of Frederick and Marion (Gift) Mattern. She attended and graduated from Allentown high school class of 1940.

She was a life long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Allentown and was active in almost every aspect of church life, from teaching Sunday School to serving on worship committees to stuffing envelopes in the office. She loved her church and she loved her God.

In 1944, she married Haydn Roberts and they had one daughter, Barbara. Kathryn was widowed in 1947 when Haydn died unexpectedly.

She worked as an operator at Bell Telephone for 17 years where she made many friends who she kept in touch with throughout her life. In 1959, she married Thomas Kershner. They had 27 wonderful years together before his death in 1987.

Kathryn was predeceased by her mother, Marion Mattern, her father Fredrick Mattern, and her sister Margaret (Mattern) Peters.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Kershner) Miller and husband Peter of Wheelock VT, four grandchildren, Linda (Kershner) Seroskie and husband John of Mechanicsburg PA, Thomas Kershner and wife Lynn of Pleasant Hill, Ohio, Kristen (Miller ) Huntington and husband Thomas of East St Johnsbury VT and Eric Miller and wife Westerly of East Burke VT,and also a special niece, Jackie Roberts of Bethlehem PA. She has 9 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren

Services: Memorial 10:30 AM Friday, March 6, 2026 at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton Streets, Allentown. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 AM Friday in the funeral home. www.BKRFH.com
