Kathy Ann Romans, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 19, 1944, to Albert and Dorothy Kolkmeyer, who preceded her in death. Kathy was the oldest of five siblings.

Kathy attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Pittsburgh, PA, graduating in 1962. She then went on to attend the University of Louisville.

She retired as the Executive Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, where she spent many years working tirelessly on behalf of those with CF.

Kathy cherished her children and grandchildren, and thoroughly enjoyed hosting family events, and sharing laughter and joy with her many incredible friends.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 19 years, Jim Romans, her children Debbie Carmony; Russell Carmony; and Scott Carmony (Stephanie). Grandchildren David (Kim), Macy, and Caroline Carmony. Step-children Russ Romans (Debi), Chris Romans, and Pam Romans, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, (12900 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, KY 40243) from 1:00-4:00 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 4:00 p.m. A private burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Kentucky/West Virginia Chapter.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
