James "Jim" Warren Moss, 95, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025. He spent his final days in the company of his family and dear friends.

Jim was born on December 21, 1929, in Louisville, to the late Harry and Millie Moss. He often shared fond stories of his adventurous youth in Louisville and Lexington. A proud alumnus of St. Xavier High School, he later studied at the University of Louisville. Jim was a steelworker in 1949 on the Burnside Railroad Bridge in Somerset. He then served in the United States Air Force, where he learned the craft of sign-making-a skill that became the foundation of his lifelong vocation as an entrepreneur.

With a curious and inventive mind, Jim built a life defined by creativity and innovation. He founded and operated The Moss Company for many years and later developed the technology behind his second and third companies, Personal Print and AutoMark, which was acquired by a national corporation. He also created Choro Grip and other products, earning multiple U.S. patents.

Beyond his work and family, Jim found joy in the outdoors. He loved hiking in the woods, watching birds, and marveling at God's creations. He often reflected, "How can anyone look at this and believe there is no God?"

He is survived by his children, Karen (Steve) Vanover, David (Debbie) Moss, and Nancy (DeAngelo) Wiser; his daughter-in-law, Angelica Franco; his grandson, Alan Moss; his stepchildren, Jane (Mark) Farnsworth and Pamela Bates; his daughter-in-law, Karen Rose; step-grandchildren, Joe (Deborah) Farnsworth, Stacey (Khedric) Cash, Jeff Rose, Shaun Bates, and Rachel (Shane) Helm; and step great-grandchildren, Nora, Rowan, and Wynnie Helm; Kaleb and Leah Farnsworth; and Harper-Ann Bates.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Doris "Dot" Moss Curley; his wife, Eileen; his son, John Moss; his former wife, Mildred Moss; and his stepsons, David Rose and Alan Swink.

The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 1, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3705 Stone Lakes Drive, Louisville, KY. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., also at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Michael Catholic Church Building Fund.

Jim was a great friend. We had wonderful times at St Michael´s working on different committees. He and Eileen were one of the first couples we met at St Michael´s. His welcoming ways will be missed. May he rest in peace.

Oh, what a tremendous loss to the family and the community. Jim was one of a kind. A true friend to anyone who cared to share a word or two with him. I was privileged to get to know him better on our short rides to Thursday morning studies and Mass. Jim was always the "welcomer", and he frequently made personal efforts to check up on those who may have left his beloved St. Michaels regardless of their next destination. Jim, you have earned your reward-a Heaven that you were always prepared for.

I have many memories of one of my favorite people in this world! He loved to share and share he did of his beloved birds in his yard always wanting to know more! I miss this man in my life every day! He stayed close to God always coming to Mass even very recently. Our Scripture Bible Study was very small but he participated as long as he could sharing his love of God. I am sure he was escorted to Heaven by a host of Angels curious to see the face of God!
