Kathy Louise Wimpee, age 68, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024 in Muskegon, Michigan. She was born in Muskegon on July 20, 1955 to John and Beverly (Mayette) Backensto and graduated from Muskegon High School. Kathy was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching University of Michigan athletics and WWE with her son. She enjoyed reality TV and cooking. Most importantly, Kathy was an amazing mom that always put her children first, and what she cherished most was time spent with her family. Kathy is survived by her three children, Matthew (Misty Chandler) Wiseman, Timothy (Jessica) Wiseman, and Rebecca (Ron Zeedyk) Farr; grandchildren, Jack (Sierra) Wortelboer and Lily Chandler; great-grandchildren, Leland, Scarlett, and Alistor; brothers, Jeff Backensto and Rick Backensto; sister, Kimberly (Lloyd) Parker; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Ella. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Denise Olsen and John Backensto. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE OPEN HOUSE will be held from 2-5 PM Sunday, July 7, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with a time of sharing starting at 2:00 PM.
