Katie Ann Curtis passed away peacefully on October 27th, 2025, in
Chesapeake, Virginia.
Katie was a light that got caught up in dark clouds, but her warmth and love will continue to shine through the hearts she touched. She had a smile that could light up a room and a laugh that was contagious to everyone around her.
Katie was mother to three daughters - Kyra, Zofia, and Alaya - whom she loved deeply and unconditionally. She had a gift for caring for others. Katie dedicated herself to caring for the elderly and found joy and purpose in helping those in need. She cared for her grandma Elsie for many years. Her caregiving nature extended beyond her family, as she also lovingly cared for a close friend's wife, Brenda. In her earlier years, she proudly served as a volunteer paramedic for Virginia Beach and later worked in the emergency room taking vitals - always drawn to the medical field and the chance to make a difference.
She was a graduate of Great Bridge High School, and a member of her dad's church, Berean Bible Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
When Katie was a little girl, she loved to read. Her nose was always stuck in a book. She was a great big sister who took good care of her little sisters. She loved to go to church with her mom and dad and sisters. As a teen, she once spent time on a ranch working around horses.
Katie had a sensational love for animals of all kinds. She passed that compassion on to her daughters, teaching them to love even the "unlovable" - snakes, spiders, reptiles, kittens, and horses alike.
She found peace in the simple things: a rainy day, a cozy blanket, and a good show to binge.
Katie is preceded in death by her Grandparents, Norm and Rita Boetger and David and Elsie Curtis.
Katie is survived by her daughters Kyra, Zofia, and Alaya; her parents Cathy and David; and her sisters Julie and Lindsey and many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her radiant smile, and the light she brought into so many lives.
Though her light was dimmed too soon, her love and laughter will never fade. She will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Oman Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 653 Cedar Road in
Chesapeake, VA 23322. Her father, Pastor David B. Curtis will officiate the ceremony. Following the service, the family will receive friends at a reception in the funeral home.

Katie's memory will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones, and her spirit will continue to inspire acts of kindness in the lives she touched.
