It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Katie Nix Webb of Marshall, NC, who passed away peacefully in the early hours of May 19, 2025. Katie was born on February 21, 1931 in Marshall, NC. She graduated from Marshall High in 1951 where she excelled in basketball and softball. She was the homecoming queen in 1951. Katie started her career at Madison High School in August 1974. She worked in the cafeteria at Madison High until 1992 when Madison Middle School opened, where she assisted with formatting the layout of the kitchen. She worked an additional year at Madison Middle to ensure continuity. She retired from Madison County Schools in 1993 after 19 years of service with the child nutrition program.
Katie's passion was her family, traveling, and being outdoors. She was also an avid Duke basketball fan. She instilled a sense of family devotion within her children. During her travels, her husband Jimmie and she traveled to 49 states and Canada.
Katie was a member of First Baptist Church for 80 years. She faithfully served the Lord in several positions in the church. She was involved in many community activities and had her children involved in 4-H, boy and girl scouts, youth camp, and in many Madison sports. She loved going to the dances in Marshall where she especially loved square dancing.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie Webb; parents Fleet and Nora Crow Nix; brothers Clarence, Charlie, S.L., Joe, and Fleet (Noochie); sisters Edith, Georgia, Valerie, and Jean; and great granddaughters Rylee and Amelia.
She is survived by her sons Tony (Sharon), and Holden; daughters Kay Davis (Terry), Linda Thompson (John), and Johnna Peters (Chris). Her grandchildren: Philip (Jill), Joshua, Eric, and Ryan Davis (Christine); Thomas (Shelby), Lady, and Travis Westmoreland (Sarah); Andrew and Cody Thompson. She was THE Great Grandma to Bailey, Cael, Kenzleigh, Declan, Benjamin, Killian, and June Davis, David Black, Audrey Thompson, Avery, Aryana, and Penelope Westmoreland, and JJ Sloan.
At the request of Katie, graveside service only will be held. The family will have a 6:00 sunset service at Bowman-Rector cemetery on Friday, May 23rd.

Mrs. Webb was great lady. She was always kind to students at Madison High School. She took great care to make sure her students had good tasting good to eat no matter what budget she to work with. She was even good to the teachers who were her students four years after graduation.
She raised kind and loving children.
