It is with heavy hearts, our family announces the passing of our beloved "Kay-Kay". Kay Blackwell passed away on Sunday June 22, 2025 at the age of 81. Affectionately known as Ms. Kay or "Kay-Kay" to all, she was born in Mobile, AL on May 30, 1944, and raised in both Tylertown, MS and New Orleans. She met and later married the "boy next door", her Quince St. neighbor, Warren. After attending PGT Beauregard Middle School and Warren Easton High School, they married on Valentine's Day 1964, at Pontchartrain Baptist Church in New Orleans. Together they lovingly raised their two daughters Michelle and Nicole. Kay was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church and past Board of Control President of Lutheran High School. She was also a longtime supporter and member of Atonement Lutheran Church.
Kay leaves behind her beloved husband of 61 years, Warren Blackwell. She will also be dearly missed by her two daughters, Michelle Clement (Barry), and Nicole Alleman (Mike); her grandchildren, Rebecca Fontenot (Derrek), Caroline Alleman, and Mikey Alleman; great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Walker Fontenot; siblings, Mona Lee (Douglas), Beth Bonin, Bill Brister (Pat), Ricky Brister (Helen), Fred Brister (Denise); and dozens of cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Lola Brister; her sisters, Pat Forbes (late, John), Scherean Brister, and Gwen Brister; her brother, Mike Brister (Nancy); and a favorite cousin, Cedo.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Atonement Lutheran Church, 6500 Riverside Dr.
Metairie, LA 70003 on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Visitation will take place from 12:00pm-2:00pm. The service will begin at 2:00pm, with fellowship immediately following. Contributions may be made to Lutheran High School of New Orleans, in memory of Kay Blackwell. Online condolences may be offered at www.gardenofmemoriesmetairie.com.
