Kay Ann Guild passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024, in Lansing, Michigan. Born on September 1, 1946, to the late Lee E. and Beva Lee (Brown) Smith, Kay lived a life marked by love, kindness, and dedication to her family and community.
A proud graduate of Grand Ledge High School's class of 1964, Kay was a member of the school band as a majorette. Although her primary career was as a stay-at-home wife and mother, she later ventured into business, owning and operating Sunsational Tanning Salon. With a meticulous approach and a heart for service, Kay then built a rewarding career as a Pharmacy Technician at Grand Pharmacy, later Rite Aid. Her dedication to accuracy and her thoughtful care for customers were evident throughout her years there. Kay also shared her artistic talents by teaching ceramics, helping others to mold and shape their creativity into tangible keepsakes.
Family was the cornerstone of Kay's life. She was a devoted wife to her high school sweetheart, Theron Guild, for nearly 60 years, and a loving mother to her children, Heather, Holly, Troy (Erin), and Trent (Tracie) Guild. Her joy multiplied with the birth of each grandchild, Connor, Caleb (Alle), Avery (Taylor), Emelyn, Addison, and Leo, and she was blessed to see the family tree flourish with three great-grandchildren, with another on the way. Kay's sisters, Linda (Tom) Robertson, Jan (Garth) Green, Donna Rae (Terry) Edsall, and sister-in-law Janice Smith, along with several nieces and nephews, will remember her for her laughter, guidance, and the unconditional love she extended to all. She was preceded in death by parents Lee E. and Beva Lee Smith and her brother, Gary Smith, whose memory she held close to her heart.
Kay's love for life was reflected in the things she enjoyed most. She treasured her time at the family cottage on Crystal Lake, where the peaceful surroundings became the setting for cherished memories. Her fondness for the water also took her to Florida and Alabama, where she delighted in the beauty of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Kay's gentle and nurturing spirit shone through in the bond she shared with her beloved dogs over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held December 1, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Joseph E. Drolett Community Center in Delta Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Ingham County Animal Shelter Fund, https://secure.qgiv.com/for/icasf, in loving memory of Kay Guild. The family has entrusted arrangements to the Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel, Grand Ledge.
