Kay Lynn Hudson April 21 1939- April 9 2025. Kay passed away in her sleep at her home with loved ones around. A special thank you to her great granddaughter Taylee Fenn who helped her Great grandmother till the very end. Kay was born to Alward and Margaret Spencer (Countryman) in Sunnyside Washington. Kay is survived by three children Wendy Holen (Watkins) daughter, Donald Hudson Jr. Son and Terri Hudson daughter. 14 Grandchildren and 22 Great-grandchildren. Many loved nephews and nieces. Proceeding her death: Award Spencer Father, Ruth Spencer loving step mother. Margaret Countryman, mother. Donald Hudson, husband. Frank Watkins, ex-husband. Harold Countryman-brother, Barbara Spencer-sister, Joseph Watkins-son, Kathy Watkins- daughter, Julie Hudson-daughter, Theodore McBride- great grandson.
Kay was raised by her loving father and stepmother, Alward and Ruth Spencer. She loved music and played many different instruments in her youth including the steel guitar.
Kay married Frank Watkins and they had 3 children together. Joseph, Wendy and Kathy Watkins. Kay and Frank were divorced.
Kay married Don Hudson and they had 3 children together. Donald Jr, Terri and Julie Hudson.
Kay was a stay at home Mom, supporting her many children in their sports and activities. In 1975 Don and Kay moved to Alaska. They opened Hilltop Café located 5.5 miles on the Elliott Hwy. To serve the truckers going to Prudhoe Bay during the building of the pipeline. Hilltop was off grid with winters often below 50 it was a challenge to keep it up and running. Don and Kay grew Hilltop into a successful business which is still up and running to this day. Kay did most of the cooking and baking. Making 3 different homemade bread, wheat, white and cinnamon raisin. Kay became famous for her homemade pies! Hilltop is still known for there " I Brake for Pies". After selling the restaurant and moving back to Seattle her husband Don passed away. Kay bought different real estate properties and proved herself a savvy business woman. She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity during her retirement years. She enjoyed her work at Habitat and made many good friends there. Kay was dearly loved by many and will be missed. Always loved and never forgotten.
