July 19, 1940 – November 21, 2025
Kaylene Crossley Secrist Loghry returned home to her Heavenly Father on November 21, 2025, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Kaylene was born on July 19, 1940, in Star Valley, Wyoming, to Elworth Crossley and Louise Burton. Growing up, she enjoyed spending time with her father plowing the fields on the family property. Kaylene and her family later moved to Sunset, Utah, where she grew up with strong values of faith and family. She graduated from Davis High School in 1958, then attended Weber State College. Kaylene married her sweetheart, Douglas Secrist, on August 28, 1961, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, and together they were blessed with four wonderful children. Kaylene worked in various secretarial roles before securing a position at Hill Air Force Base as a computer operator, where she proudly served until her retirement. Kaylene and Doug also shared a life of hard work and entrepreneurship, managing rental properties and running their business, D&K Services, which offered lawn care and typing services. After 19 years of marriage, Doug passed away, leaving a profound void in Kaylene's life.
In time, Kaylene found love again with Harlen Loghry, and they were married on October 2, 1981. With this union, Kaylene embraced three stepsons and continued her devotion as a loving mother. Later, she and Harlen built a successful security company, providing services from central Utah to Northern Idaho. Kaylene wore many hats in the business-President, payroll, accounting, dispatch, sales, and even security guard-always leading with determination and grace.
Kaylene's life was rich with passions. She loved traveling and often took her children and grandchildren on memorable vacations across the country. Her dedication to family history was remarkable; she completed an extraordinary number of extractions and indexing work for genealogy purposes, leaving a legacy of faith and connection.
Beyond her work and family, Kaylene enjoyed many hobbies and interests. She loved spending time with friends and family playing cards, and participating in bowling leagues, where she proudly served as league secretary. Kaylene was a whiz with computers and delighted in the newest computer or computer programs. Her children and grandchildren were recipients of personalized birthday wrapping paper and T-shirts. She was known for her kind heart and unwavering care for those in need, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Kaylene is survived by her husband, Harlen Loghry (Ogden); children: Sterling Secrist (Sue) – Layton, Sharon Pearson (Ken) – Syracuse, Randy Loghry (Stacy) – Ogden, Jay Secrist (Michelle) – Pleasant View, Bonnie Gregson (Garry) – Layton, Brian Loghry – Ogden, and Eldon Loghry – Ogden; sister Arla Leonard (John) and foster sister Doris Davis; and foster brother Larry Davis. She is also cherished by 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, who will forever remember her love and example.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Intermountain Health Hospice, Visiting Angels, and Legacy House of Ogden for their compassionate care and support during Kaylene's illness.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 1, 2025, at Leavitt's Mortuary and Aultorest Memorial Park, located at 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah, at 10:00 AM, with a viewing held from 8:45 AM to 9:45 AM. Interment will follow at Deweyville City Cemetery.
Kaylene's life was a testament to faith, resilience, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed but joyfully remembered by all who knew her as a loving mother and friend.
