Keith Wyatt Bourgeous, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away April 27, 2022, at the age of 72.
Keith was born in Salt Lake City on February 20, 1950, to Ordith and Virginia (Chapman) Bourgeous. He was raised in Syracuse where he spent his youth thinning beats, digging ditches, and was involved in more than one exploding science experiment.
Keith graduated from Clearfield High in 1968. After graduation, he dedicated two years as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Toronto and Quebec Canada areas. When he returned, he attended Weber State College where he met his wife, Susan Ladle. They were married in the Logan Temple on September 21, 1973, and settled in Syracuse, Utah. He was always a good provider, his careers included farming, construction, electrical and engineering work. He earned his degree in electronic engineering and spent most of his working days at the Phillips 66 oil refinery in Woods Cross, where he worked in maintenance, instrumentation, IT, engineering, and reliability. His engineering mind was always active in solving problems and creating solutions. In 1980, he designed and built his own energy efficient home for his family. In the following years he continued to design and engineer everything, from a zipline for the grandchildren to his garden and orchard.
When not busy creating, Keith was busy exploring and loved to show others the beauty in nature. He enjoyed backpacking, camping, vacationing, and skiing. All 16 grandchildren were taught to ski by their grandpa. He also shared his love of exploring at Lake Powell with his family on a houseboat. His adventuring soul loved to find new places each night so they would have a new place to explore the next day.
Keith had a gift to connect with and serve people everywhere he went. He could be found assisting strangers, neighbors, and fulfilling church callings. He served as a teacher, counselor, bishop, high councilor, and scoutmaster. Working with youth, especially through the scouting program, was his favorite. The Scout Oath is truly how he lived his life, Duty to God, country, and others. Because of the way he lived his life and the countless years of service, he earned the Silver Beaver Award.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan; his father, Ordith and Barbra Bourgeous; his children, Katy (Kevin) Hall, Ann (Will) Braithwaite, Bill (Caroline) Bourgeous, and Tami (James) Kelsey; his sibilings, Shari (Van) Thornock, Bruce (Chin Hui) Bourgeous, Penny (Shoji) Dambara, Brent (Bonnie) Bourgeous, and sister-in-law, Peggy Peterson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Bourgeous; and his younger sister, Vicky.
We appreciate the wonderful support provided by Paige and Tiffany from Inspire, family, friends, and neighbors.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS Trailside Chapel (2887 W. 2700 S. Syracuse, Utah). Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, May 1, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist's Syracuse Mortuary, (869 S. 2000 W. Syracuse, Utah), and Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Trailside Chapel. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I got to work with Keith @ Holly Refinery. A great guy with a real distinguishable laugh. Fun to be around, a smart man that enjoyed teaching and training fellow employees. He will be missed.
