The Dewitz family said their final earthly goodbyes to Keith A Dewitz on November 19. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. He was born on October 18th, 1936, in Ironton, Ohio, to Theodore & Geraldine Dewitz. He has one living sister, Janie Dewitz, a niece, Kelli (Steve), and nephews, Loren & Jeremy. His only brother, Donald Dewitz passed in 2008.
Keith married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Ann Baldwin from Kitts Hill, Ohio. Together they have celebrated 68 years of marriage and the birth of six children: Brent Dewitz, Cheri Starn (David Spector), Joan Ferguson (Steve) and twin sister Jean Hartzler (Joe), Brian Dewitz (Susan), and Christy Durham (Dayne). They have enjoyed following the many different activities of their 18 grandchildren and celebrating the births of 30 great grandchildren. Keith & Joyce are members of Orrville Christian Church.
Keith graduated and played football at Cincinnati University. He finished his master's Degree at Marshall University.
Keith's passion for sports and coaching opened many career doors from Rock Hill High School to Philo/Duncan Falls, South Point, and Orrville High School 1967-1980 where he coached alongside life time friends Morris Tipton & John Plybon. He coached football, basketball, track and various girls basketball teams in Massillon. His final football coaching position was in Massillon, Ohio, for "The Tigers", coaching his youngest son Brian's varsity team till his graduation. When not in or on a sports arena, you could find Keith constructing a muzzleloader gun from scratch, or perfecting his scrimshaw technique on powder horns.
The Dewitz family would like to mention and deeply thank every staff member on the Carrington Wing & Therapy Department at Westview Healthy Living. LifeCare Hospice was also exceptional. Your kindness, compassion & love that you shared with Keith will never be forgotten.
Calling hours will take place 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Orrville Christian Church, 925 N Elm St. Orrville, Ohio on Tuesday, November 26th, 2024. The service will immediately follow calling hours at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Keith's memory to Ohio's Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, OH 44691, www.lifecarehospice.org.
