Keith Peter Schneider

Keith P. Schneider of Lafayette, Louisiana passed away unexpectedly on October 20, 2025 due to heart failure. Born in Bronxville, New York, he was the son of Warren A. Schneider of Fresno, California and the late Nina Berkowicz Schneider, brother of Nancy Schneider (George) Coren of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and brother of Michelle Schneider of Fresno, uncle of Jeffrey Coren and Andrew Coren and great-uncle of several. He was a graduate of Scarsdale (NY) High School and obtained a BS degree at Vanderbilt University.

At Vanderbilt, Keith was captain of the Vanderbilt lacrosse team which won the SEC championship in his senior year, and was honored by his election to the All-SEC lacrosse team.

Keith spent most of his business career as an international banker, living outside the United States, with ABN AMRO Bank: as General Manager in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil; as head of Marketing in Dublin, Ireland; as President/District Manager in charge of lending in NY/CT at ABN Bank, New York; and in The Randstad, Netherlands as Head of Debt and Equity Capital Markets for all countries located in South America, Middle East and Africa. His final employment before retirement was as president of Safdie Investment Services Corp. He learned to speak Dutch, Spanish and Portugese.

Upon retirement, Keith moved to Lafayette and began a second career as head coach of the University of Louisiana "Ragin' Cajuns" men's lacrosse team, where he was known throughout Acadiana as "Coach Keith". His passionate leadership over the years led the team to multiple LSA conference championships and an MCLA National Championship for its division. He was known for his kind heart and his profound love for his magnificent companion, his Great Dane, Rio. Rio passed away a month before Coach Keith, and pursuant to Coach Keith's will, the two of them will be laid to rest together for eternity. Their well-known bond was a joyful part of his life, showcasing the warmth and gentleness he carried with him off the field.

Coach Keith's passionate leadership introduced the sport of lacrosse to thousands of kids of both sexes across many public and private schools across Acadiana. His devotion to this task was legendary, and his lacrosse legacy will live on.
