Kelley Omeka Baldwin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 18, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on October 21, 1972 into the loving arms of her mother, Mary Price Banks.
Kelley's mother says she was a very talkative and inquisitive little girl. Kelley welcomed her little sister "Mary" affectionately known as "Boo" 13 years later with loving opened arms from the hospital. Despite she was upset because "Cherry" got to go to the hospital instead. She didn't think she was too young at 13 years old. According to "Boo" Kelley would measure up to being a great big sister as "she would always have my back and give me good advice." Kelley was an incredibly smart individual. Yes, Kelley was a loving little girl, yet, she was a prankster with her partner "Kim" in harmless crimes committed to various family members. Kelley's personality, loyalty and humility made her an amazing person simply by the way she conducted herself throughout life.
Kelley's loyalty and helpful bubbly spirit was evident as she previously worked for the City of Hampton's Public Libraries. She also displayed great loyalty to Sentara Care Plex Hospital for over 25 years of service holding various positions in different departments.
INTRODUCTION TO THEIR FAMILY 4 DEEP LOVE STORY!
Kelley met the love of her life, David shortly after high school. David was her "Boo" and she was his "Baby." She ended up marrying the love of her life on October 29th, 1993. During their beautiful Union, they had Trevon and Brandon. Trey says, "she was a wonderful caregiver and a wonderful mother." Brandon says, "she is the strongest woman I have ever known and she's the reason why I'm strong now, is because of her. The best mother in the world. No one else could compare to her! She was ONE of a kind!"
David says, "Kelley was my air, my everything, he added it is hard to breathe without her being here." David further expressed "she was made for me and I was made for her." They had the kind of love and bond that they finished each others sentences all the time! That's what happens when you've been married going on 31 years. David said, "She was his Bonnie and he was her Clyde." In fact, on one Halloween, they won the best dressed couples' contest dressing like Bonnie and Clyde. David and Kelley took on the world together no matter what obstacles came their way. The obstacles made them stronger together and they couldn't have been any closer. They conquered everything as a family says David. David said she always rose up to the occasion as a wife, mother and friend, she held the family down. However, David always proved to be the calming force for her and her sound of reasoning. They balanced each other out and completed each other. She enjoyed doing many different activities with David and her boys. Some of those activities included skiing, enjoying art and music and of course some of her greatest joys was family time "4 Deep."
Kelley loved her boys so much. She would always no matter where they were to thank David for her boys and he would do the same. Kelly was always giving of herself and didn't expect anything in return (other than a thank you). She always proved to be independent from day one in their relationship, not in a negative context, not separate, but letting him know she was confident. Kelley was often referred to as being "Wonder Woman", because she always did so much for the family.
She often referred to Trevon as "Trey-Trey" and Brandon as "BB." The doctors gave the grim life expectancy of 6 months because of her illness. However, our Kelley surpassed that tremendously because she wanted to live and fight for her family and fight is what she did for 21 months. The family had a loving saying they would say when leaving for school, work or just running errands, LOVE, LOVE! Also, 4 Deep! They would say "4 Deep" because they were always together. Throughout her illness, the boys along with her loving husband David showed up "4 Deep."
Even though we were introduced to their "4 Deep" love story and their love dynamics, Kelley's love was inclusive of her mother, affectionately known as "Cake." Kelley's mother was there from the first day of her daughter's diagnosis. She was there for appointments, errands, etc. Her mother cared for her daughter from the first day of life and cared for her until the last day of life.
Kelley loved her little sister and her wonderful nephews. Kelley's love extended well beyond the blood line, her love of families included her friendships. Blood makes you relatives, but, LOVE MAKES YOU FAMILY!!
Kelley was preceded in death by her "Daddy" Spencer Banks as she would lovingly and affectionately address him.
Our loving Kelley is survived by her loving husband: David Sr.; Children: Trevon, Brandon, David Jr, Devon, and Angel Baldwin. Mother: Mary Price Banks (Spencer Banks deceased); Sister: Mary Price "Boo" (Mark); Nephews: Domate' Price, Benjamin Broads and Matthew Broads.
