Kelli Sue Fabiano (1964-2024)
A loving, dedicated wife and strong-willed mother of two, Kelli Sue (Thompson) Fabiano, 60, entered into eternal life on September 14, 2024 at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, SC.
She was born in Kingston, NY on August 27, 1964 to parents Jerome Ernest Thompson and Dorothy Eleanor (Overbaugh) Thompson. Kelli inherited her mother's zeal for cooking and entertaining while at the same time being very much a "daddy's girl," as she was very close to her father.
Kelli met her husband Philip in Saugerties, NY. The two were married on June 27, 1987 in Saugerties, NY, and remained married for 37 years until her death. Kelli and Philip enjoyed the early years of their marriage in Long Beach, CA, where Philip was stationed in the Navy. The two spent the majority of their marriage outside of Charleston, SC where they raised their two children Justin and Brittaney.
Kelli was most proud of raising her two children, Justin and Brittaney. For much of her kids' childhood, Kelli stayed at home to ensure their proper upbringing. She volunteered at their elementary schools to run copies for teachers, waited with them at the bus stop, and greeted them at the bus stop with an after-school snack. She was her children's taxi to every sports practice, but allowed no excuse for her kids' top priority to be anything but school.
After her hard-fought success in parenting, Kelli was most excited to become "MiMi" and spoil her two grandchildren. She treasured the time she spent with her first-born granddaughter, Meredith, and her infant grandson, Daniel. She loved being able to hold and play with Meredith, and was also excited to be present for Daniel's baptism shortly after his birth.
Much like Chandler Bing from Friends, not many people can accurately describe what Kelli did professionally, but she was extremely passionate about the accounting-level work she performed as a government contractor at the Department of State building in North Charleston, where she worked for more than 20 years. She maintained that passion even during the dreaded so-called "month end."
Everyone who knew Kelli knew how much she loved to entertain. She'll forever be remembered for the way she prepared to entertain for holidays, special occasions, or a simple Sunday breakfast. She loved providing the reason for gathering, and she loved preparing the meals on the table around which people could gather. Her zest for entertaining was larger than life.
Kelli is survived by her husband, Philip, son, Justin (Ashlan), daughter, Brittaney (Keith) Ferrier, brother, Mark (Diana) Thompson, and sister, Shari. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Meredith Ferrier and Daniel Fabiano. Kelli is preceded in death by her father, Jerome Thompson and mother, Dorothy Thompson. T
