Kelly Lee Dills, 41, passed away at his residence on Monday, June 30, 2025. He is now resting in the arms of an angel.
A native of Gaston County, he was born on June 19, 1984, to Peggy Dills and the late Steven A. Dills.
Kelly was kind, considerate, loving, generous and loyal, always dependable and his work ethic was one of the best. If you were his friend, it was forever; not just when things were great. He stood by you when things were tough, giving words of encouragement and setting examples of being the best he could be. He loved old cars and trucks, but his heart was with mustangs that he would significantly alter to get the fastest ride possible. Kelly took great pride in all his cars, and there were many and expensive. If he wanted high performance, that's what he got. Kelly was a 3rd generation tube and pipe welder who took great pride in his work. He was diligent, dependable, respected and highly qualified. He will be forever missed by his work family. However, his welds will live on!
Our hearts are broken as we face living life without Kelly. His beautifully handsome face, his character, and his presence will be so difficult to live without. Never a day will pass that Kelly won't be missed. He was that person, if he wasn't there, it was a noticeable absence.
Help us cherish his memory! To keep his memory with us, we will keep him in our hearts and know he is where God chose him to be! He is reunited with his dad, the man Kelly loved so much and wanted nothing more than for him to be proud of the man Kelly was.
In addition to his father, Kelly was also preceded in death by his oldest brother, Joshua Dills, and his grandparents.
Kelly is survived by his mother Peggy; brother, Thomas Dills (Jessie), Steven Dills II, Jamie Dills (Erika); beloved nephews, Alex, Nicholas, Aiden, Caleb Dills; also, niece, Keara Dills; many extended family, aunts and uncles; work family, close friends and his beloved dog, Balee.
A celebration of life officiated by Reverend Sam Barnette will be held Sunday, July 6, 2025, 4:00 PM, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Road, Gastonia, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:30 - 4:00 PM prior to the service.
Please share your prayers, thoughts and memories with us. We want photos of Kelly; we want to remember all he was to all of us. He was so much more than most people could imagine! His personality, conversations, wit, and his physical presence has left an impression on so many.
Kelly, you were one of the best! And you will always remain the best to us. You will be missed. We love you.
