Kelly John Fox

Kelly John Fox, age 60, a long time resident of St. Johns County, passed away after a long illness on October 2, 2025, at his home in Hastings, FL, surrounded by his loving family.
Kelly was born August 29, 1965 in Huntington, New York to John Joseph Fox and Patricia Ann Campbell Fox.
He participated in extracurricular activities during early school days including competitive swimming, tennis, track and field, and soccer. He subsequently graduated from SUNY Cortland with a degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice.
Kelly discovered his love of teaching as a swimming instructor at Camp Stella Maris in Livonia, NY. After college graduation he crossed the county to pursue outdoor education opportunities in New York, California, Georgia, and the Florida Keys. He met his beloved wife Emily at Prindle Pond during the time they both worked at Nature's Classroom in Charlton, MA.
After Kelly and Emily moved to St. Augustine he enrolled at the University of North Florida to get his Teaching Certificate. Thus began a 28 year career as a teacher in St. Johns and Flagler County schools.
Kelly loved his family and enjoyed being a parent beyond words. He said his greatest pride and joy were his son and daughter, Gabe and Anya. Respect and kindness were important to him and he always had time to freely impart these virtues to his children.
Kelly lived a remarkable life and was appreciated by friends and co-workers alike for his great sense of humor and timing. It gave him great pleasure to sit around shooting the breeze, swapping tales, and correctly diagnosing car problems with family and friends.
He spent ten summers working at the St. Augustine Lighthouse Summer Day Camp, and mused that during those years he climbed the tower stairs at least 180 times with campers.
Kelly is survived by his loving wife, Emily Jane Fox; his son Gabriel Patrick Fox; his daughter, Anya Renfroe Fox; his father John J. Fox (Peggy), Freeport, IL; his mother Patricia C. Fox, Glen Cove, NY; his aunts Kathleen Campbell-Buckner, Danbury, CT and Madeline Fox, Huntington, NY; his uncle Fredrick Campbell, Los Angeles, CA; his brother Christian Fox (Kristina) and nephew Harrison Fox, all of South Salem, NY; and his best friend since youth Frank Trubio, Charleston, SC. He is lovingly remembered by his Weissberger cousins, extended family and numerous friends.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 15th, 2025, at 11:00 AM, St. Johns Family Funeral Home, 385 State Road 207, St. Augustine, FL 32084, with Pastor Clarence Blaylock officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
