Kelly Lawrence Wise, 69, passed away Sunday night, April 16, 2023, surrounded by family and loved ones at his home in Tremonton after a courageous battle with cancer. Kelly was born in Garland, March 3, 1954, to Orel Butler and Darlene Robbins Wise. He lived in Box Elder County most of his life.
Kelly graduated from Bear River High School in 1972, where his mechanical skills and generous spirit flourished. He worked in construction for a short time before turning his love of cars into a lifelong career as an auto body mechanic. After retiring from Great Basin Industrial in 2019, he continued restoring classic cars until his deteriorating health forced him to stop in 2022.
He married Peggy Barnes on August 3, 1974. In 1975, they had a son, Craig, Denver, CO, and daughter, Paige, Preston, ID, in 1978. While they later divorced, Kelly and Peggy have 5 grandchildren.
In 2004, Kelly married Janette Fredrickson of Tremonton. However, Janette died of cancer later that same year.
In 2008, Kelly married the love of his life, Paulette Chournos. From this marriage Kelly gained a lifelong friend and four loving daughters Jami (Jimmy) Summers, Karrie (Justin) Shelton, Misty Bosserman, JanDee (Josh) Canfield. Additionally, he endeared himself to 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In July of 2021, Kelly and Paulette were sealed in the Logan Temple.
Kelly is survived by his mother, his children, and his siblings, Jeff (Marie), Clearfield; Cynthia (Tim) Williams, Coalville; Curtis (Laurie), Tremonton; Brent (Sherrie), Malad, ID; Jennifer (Tim) Hansen, Tremonton, Christopher (Nikki), Tremonton.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Noon at the Tremonton 3rd Ward LDS Church (9590 North 6800 West- Tremonton). Viewings will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 6-8 P.M. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N 100 E- Tremonton) and prior to the service at the church from 10:30-11:30 A.M. Interment in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed and may be accessed below.
