He started school in the one-room school in Barclay, later completing his primary education at Kennard Elementary and High Schools in Centerville, MD, graduating in 1963. Later, and with much determination, he received his bachelor's degree from Spring Arbor College in 1998 in Business Administration.

Ken was an avid bowler, bowling for the United States Bowling Congress (USCB) in the tournament's host state. He was striving for 30 years but just completed his 27th year about a month ago. He bowled weekly in Big Rapids, MI, with the Allen Chiropractic Team.
Including his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his older brothers, John M. "Tubby" "Jackie" Winchester Sr., Horace Russell Winchester, and his maternal aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.
