Kenneth George Atkinson was born April 14, 1953, in Cairo, GA, the son of Rex & Evelyn Johnson Atkinson. He was a graduate of Cairo High School, Class of 1971. He worked as a lineman with Grady EMC for over twenty-five years. Enjoying retirement meant working so Kenneth signed up to drive a truck for Thomas County Board of Commissioners. He was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church.

A man who never could sit still for long, Kenneth was happiest with a tool in his hand or grease on his fingers, tinkering in the garage and fixing just about anything. He loved nothing more than being on his tractor, whether for work or just for the joy of being outdoors.

An avid outdoorsman, he spent countless days hunting and fishing, sharing stories of the "one that got away" and enjoying the quiet beauty of nature. At home, Kenneth was known for his watchful eye on the neighborhood; he and his sidekick, Elvis, made several trips a day to keep things in check.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sue Stuckey Atkinson; his children, Beverly Shirley and Brian & Jenny Atkinson; his grandchildren, Nicholas & Taylor, Kristen, Hannah & Wes, and Emma Ryan; his great-granddaughter, Holland; his brother, Jeffery Atkinson; and his faithful canine companion, Elvis. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents.
