Kenneth E. Barnard passed away at his St. Augustine, FI. home early morning on October 19; he was 80 years of age. Ken was born on March 6, 1942, to Fred and Arlene Barnard in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Arthur High School in 1960 and continued his education at Valparaiso University where he was awarded his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1965. Ken worked for General Motors in administration as assistant shipping and receiving manager for seven years. In 1972, he relocated to Gainesville, Florida where he co-owned and managed Ironwood Golf Course, a semi private 18-hole facility. After selling his share of Ironwood, he moved to St. Augustine, Florida in the early 1980's Ken married the love of his life, Nancy Barnard in 1988 and he and Nancy lived in their St Augustine home until the time of their deaths.
He was passionate about playing golf, country music, and cooking, especially barbequing, for his family and friends. Ken was an avid fan of all Detroit professional teams, particularly the Detroit Tigers. Ken and Nancy often traveled by van to visit their respective families and good friends across the Midwest and upper Midwest. They were both long-time and dedicated members of Memorial Lutheran Church and Ken was instrumental in initiating an annual Oktoberfest celebration where he was happy and willing to participate in much of the cooking.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 11 am in Memorial Lutheran Church officiated by Reverend Richard Dow. Inurnment will follow the service in the church columbarium. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to Ken's Memorial Fund at Memorial Lutheran Church, 3375

Jim and Beckie Leewe

November 4, 2022

So many fond memories. Ken and Nancy were our first and best friends here in St. Augustine beginning in 1990. We celebrated all our birthdays together, many Christmas and Thanksgiving feasts, plus Ken's all time favorite Oktoberfest. He was Uncle Kenny to our boys. We know you are rejoicing and singing with your beautiful voice in the heavenly choir. Walking hand and hand with Nancy. Oh how we will miss you Ken. Love the Leewe clan: Jim, Beckie, Carl, Karah, Aaron, Heidi, and Logan
